In this picture of the lobby area you can see the concrete leveler under the partially completed plywood sub-floor.

The carpeted area is 49' x 14' - so big that the carpet layers had to roll out the carpet and cut it to fit out in the street!

It took 3 of us to carry it in and once there, it was a big job to move it into place. The goal was no seams and we met it.

If you refer back to the Beam Installation page, you'll see mention of a structural problem with the house that was uncovered during the engineering for this project. Due to that, there needed to be some work done to level the floor.  180 lbs of leveler was poured where the original posts sat to fill in the 1" dips.  On top of that, sheets of 1/2" plywood were put down to make a nice solid, level floor for the wood parquet.

The wood parquet is not the cheap $1.29 stuff they sell at home centers. That parquet has gaps between the wood slats that are filled with putty and it has a thin finish that eventually wears off.  This parquet is $7.00/ft and is from Hartco. It's much much better constructed and is pressure stained and polyurethaned completely through for a 25 year warranty.
