The sheetrock was hung o'er the juke box hole with care... |

Ron "hanging rock" over the media room door. |

Because the room was so long, there was space to add a 2' x
13' double door closet. |
 |
The ceiling is DONE! What a job! 4' x 12' sheets. But, after
learning some tricks from Rick, Ron even put one up himself, without a lift! |

Rick and Ron "hanging at the corner, watchin' all the
girls go by..." |
 |
Rick did the finish work while Ron sipped a beer.
Actually Rick is the expert taper/finisher. He probably hates hanging it as
much as Ron does. |
 |
Rick is very proud of this 49 foot edge along the soffitt.
Perfectly straight! |

Look at those fine seams! |

Ready for paint. |

Hanging the sheetrock (a.k.a. wallboard, a.k.a. plasterboard) had
to be the worst part of the entire job.
First, the sheets are big and heavy. Second, it's so dusty
that even with doors and plastic barriers, you still eat dust in your Cornflakes for
weeks. Third, you must have an expert to finish it. It's an art and skill that takes
practice.
Ron started to hang it, doing 22 sheets himself, but then hired a
contractor to come in and hang the remaining 30 (including the ceiling) and finish
everything.
The first bid he got was astronomical, he then worked the price
down to half. But, on the day the contractor was supposed to show, he didn't!
And, he wouldn't return Ron's calls! This was mid-October and a New Year's Eve Party
was not looking good. Luckily Ron found Rick Hegdahl, who had just returned from
reserve duty and was looking for a side job. Rick normally is a taper and
finisher but he helped Ron hang the remainder - teaching Ron a few tricks - not that
Ron ever wants to hang sheetrock again...
In 1 week it was all hung and finished. Wheew. That was close.
