Ron and Valerie's Kauai Dining

	Nov 3, 2007 We had lunch at Scotty's BBQ in Kapa'a. The pork ribs and chicken sandwich were the best picks. The mahi sandwich was nice, nothing special (topped with a flavorless tomato slice). The sandwich buns were all toasted - a nice flavor enhancer. Coleslaw was crisp and nice, even though half the container filled with the water dressing. Skip the "specialty" fried cheesecake. It's just not that special. We suggest a roll of paper towels at each table. One paper napkin per person is not enough. We asked for more but they never appeared. The napkins came apart after a few wipes (ribs can be quite sticky) leaving napkin shrapnel all over the place, including my fingers. Scotty's BBQ in Kapa'a: Recommend 3 Stars

	Nov 5, 2007 We eaten here before and can't believe how good it is. This time we had the Portuguese Pizza (Portuguese sausage, black olives, sweet onions and mushrooms) - WOW! All the flavors are balanced; we never get black olives, but they work on this pizza. Pacific Pizza & Deli in Waimea: Don't Miss It! 5 Stars

	Nov 6, 2007 We had a nice breakfast at Joe's on the Green. The culinary renegade in me had to have an Eggs Benedict Hawaiian style; I asked for Kalua pork on it. Joe's did it for me, thanks. Everyone should try this. The tartness of the Hollandaise balanced the saltiness of the pork. I didn't get the side of rice or hash browns - they only detract from perfection. 	Nov 7, 2007 Had lunch at Brennecke's... have to go at least once when here. Ron's Kalua pork was the best he has had so far. The rest of the plate lunch and my Caesar with grilled mahi was ok, the dressing was mustardy, not Caesar tasting. The dessert "Bob's Favorite Coffee Ice Cream Pie" was good, sweeter than I like, fine to share. Brennecke's in Poipu: Recommend for the atmosphere 3 Stars

	Nov 9, 2007 Had lunch at TomKatz in Koloa. Loved the cats; Sammy was a sweetie. If you miss your cat, stop in. We tried it because the Kalua Pork was listed as homemade. Ron rates it as average, it just tasted like baked pork. Ron's Kalua Pork Rating: Average The mahi sandwich had a tiny piece of fish and a big bun. The salad I got instead of fries was from a bag (browned lettuce) with 2 old-tasting carrot sticks on top - not worth the $1.50 extra. TomKatz in Koloa: Mediocre
